Things to do in Wabasha, Minnesota

Enjoy a peaceful getaway at the Harbor View Suites in Wabasha, MN. There is so much to do and see! You will fall in love with the shops, restaurants, sites, and friendly people. The National Eagle Center is just a short walk away and is a must see during your trip to Wabasha. Our town also has the nearest bridge into Wisconsin 30 miles north and south. A quick drive over and you will find more delicious restaurants and the Nelson Cheese Factory.

In the Spring you will find it prime time to view eagles in and near Wabasha. Because the river rarely freezes as the Chippewa River meets the Mississippi, Wabasha has a good number of resident eagles. In March our resident eagles mix with the migrating eagles and, since there are no leaves on the trees, we can see them as they roost for the night in the trees along the bluffs. In the early mornings you will find 150 or more eagles in those bluffs along Hwy 61 just before they head out fishing. They join the myriad of other birds in the spring who migrate along the Mississippi Flyway.

Summer offers boating, hiking, biking, golf, fishing, bird-watching, and more. Hire a local guide to show you the Mississippi River, eagle nests and great fishing destinations.

Wabasha really comes alive in Autumn when SeptOberfest begins. Every weekend from the second week in September to the end of October is filled with family friendly activities of all kinds and the colors on the Bluffs are breath-taking!

All year long, you can enjoy our local parks like Frontenac State Park just north of Lake City at Frontenac, MN. This area is gorgeous for bird watching or hiking with it’s views of Lake Pepin and the trails in the woods. Outside of Kellogg, MN, Kruger DNR Recreation Area offers 1332 acres along the Zumbro River and has many hiking trails.  Across the Wabasha bridge about 15 miles in Alma, WI is Lock & Dam #4 and Buena Vista County Park with a vast view of the Mississippi River and bottoms below.
